Front Post Crocheted Hat

Front Post Crocheted Hat

I just finished up this front post crocheted hat using a skein of blue wool. Towards the end of the pattern, I ran short of yarn. This thick front post crocheted hat pattern is a real wool eater and I just didn’t have enough yarn in the solid blue to finish the hat. So I looked through my stash in search of a matching yarn to add to the hat.

I added 3 rounds of Big Twist yarn in royal blues before finishing with 3 single crochet rounds of trim in the solid blue yarn to complete the hat.

Here is a close up of the contrasting yarn I used.

The variegated yarn added a fun and different look to the hat. What at first appeared to be a problem with a shortage of yarn actually turned into a blessing in disguise as I wouldn’t have thought of adding such contrast otherwise.[…]

Unicorn Baby Round Ripple

Unicorn Baby Round Ripple

Here is a baby blanket I crocheted in a round ripple pattern. I used a Lion Brand Mandala yarn cake in colorway Unicorn to crochet this blanket. I did use a scrap of pink yarn at the center to get things started.

I finished the round ripple with the pink shade that I pulled out of the center of the cake. I wanted to end round ripple blanket with the blues all in one round. Then I pulled out the pink to finish the round ripple with a round of single crochet for trim.

Finished width is 35 inches and I do have a bit of the Mandala cake of yarn left to start another blanket. This blanket is going to a favorite NICU baby blanket drive over at Crochetville.[…]

Mulberry Plarn Gift Basket

Mulberry Plarn Gift Basket

I crocheted a gift basket using recycled white plastic bags cut into plarn for an upcoming library fundraiser. I wanted to color match the basket with a few cloths in the gift basket. So I used the same mulberry cotton yarn for the stripe on the basket as I did when I crocheted the cloths.

Here is the free plarn basket pattern which I used to crochet the basket. I used double strands of regular cotton yarn to crochet the matching stripe.

My camera doesn’t really capture the matching colors but the items do look good together and I am hoping people will bid on this for auction for the library.

The cloths were crocheted using the same mulberry I love this yarn for the corded cloth and within the large mandala crocheted cloth. Here are the links for the crochet patterns for the cloths. […]
