Barbie Yellow Plarn Dress Pattern

Materials:
Approx. 10 Yellow plastic bags until into Plarn
1 small button

Hook:
“G” USA size crochet hook

Ch 13.

Row 1
Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each st of rnd. (12 Sc)

Row 2
Ch 1, turn. *Sc in next st, then 2 Sc in next st.* Repeat between * across row. (18 Sc)

Row 3 – 5
Repeat row 2.

Row 6
Ch 1, turn. Sc in ea st across row.

Row 7
Ch 1, turn. Sc in the next 8 sts, sk 12 sts, then Sc in ea st until you come to the last 20 sts of row. Sk next 12 sts and then Sc in the last 8 sts. (Sleeve openings created)

Row 8
Ch 1, turn. *Sc in next 2 sts, sk 1 st *. Repeat between * across row. End with a Sc in last st of row.

Row 9
Ch 1, turn. Sc in next st, *Ch 3, sk 2 sts, Sc in next st*. Repeat between * across row.
End with a Sc in last st of row. (Adjust your sts if this doesn’t come out evenly for netting stitch look. Just put your inc or dec at back of dress so it doesn’t show.)

Row 10
Ch 3, turn. Sc in the Sc (last st of row 9), *Ch 3, Sc in the Ch 3 space*. Repeat between * across row. End with a Sc in last st of row.

Don’t turn. At this point continue working in rounds without turning. You should be working on the RS of the dress.

Rnd 11 – 18
Ch 1, join with a Sc into the Sc (last st of row10). *Ch 3, Sc in next Ch 3 space*. Repeat between * until desired length of dress is completed. End your last round at back of dress with a Ch 3 and a Sc into the Sc of prior round.

Fasten off and weave ends under on inside.

My first attempt with the pattern resulted in this little red dress for Barbie. The picture is clickable if you want to see an enlarge photo of the dress. I will now attempt another dress using plastic bag yarn with a few minor changes. Anyway I did write up the pattern and wanted to share this free dress pattern with everyone.

Barbie’s Red Dress Pattern

Materials:
1 oz. red acrylic yarn
1 small button
Small amount of ribbon for waist tie

Hook: “G” USA size crochet hook

Ch 13.
Row 1
Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each st of rnd. (12 Sc)

Row 2
Ch 1, turn. *Sc in next st, then 2 Sc in next st.* Repeat between * across row. (18 Sc)

Row 3
Ch 1, turn. *Sc in next 2 sts, then 2 Sc in next st*. Repeat between * across row. (24 Sc)

Row 4
Ch 1, turn. *Sc in ea of the next 6 sts, then 2 Sc in next st*. Repeat between * across row until the last 3 sts of row. Sc in ea of the last 3 sts. (27 Sc)

Row 5
Ch 1, turn. *Sc in ea of the next 9 sts, then 2 Sc in next st*. Repeat between * and then Sc in the last 7 sts of row. (29 Sc)

Row 6
Ch 1, turn. Work Sc in ea st.

Row 7
Ch 1, turn. Work Sc in ea of the next 5 sts, sk 6 sts, then Sc in the next 7 sts, sk 6 sts, and Sc in last 5 sts.

Row 8
Ch 3, turn. Sk 1st st *Sc in next st, Ch 2, Hdc in next st, Ch 2*. Repeat between * across row. Join with a Sl St to top of Ch 3. (Don’t turn, just continue working in the round at this point.)

Row 9
Ch 2, Sc in sm st as Sl St joining st. Ch 2, *Hdc in Sc of prior row, Ch 2, Sc in Hdc of prior row*. Repeat between * across row. Ch 1 and join with a Sl St to top of Ch 2.

Row 10
*Ch 2, Hdc in Sc, Ch 2, Sc in Hdc, Ch 2*. Repeat between * across row. Join with a Sl St to top of Ch 2.

I finally got around to crocheting a Barbie fashion doll dress out of recycled cassette tape. It’s been something that I have wanted to complete way back when I crocheted my Barbie doll purses. I had fun digging out my old Barbie doll which hasn’t had a clothes change in probably 30 years. The old girl looks pretty good for being at least 40 years old. I thought the gold boots really went well with her new halter dress too. I also whipped up a little hat to go with her new outfit.

You use just a small amount of cassette tape to crochet this outfit. Use the link above to choose a purse or shoulder bag to finish off your recycled Barbie outfit. I hope you all have as much fun making this outfit as I did. Enjoy!

Free Barbie Fashion Doll Halter Dress & Hat Pattern

Material: Cassette Tape
Hook: “E” crochet hook

Halter Dress
With cassette tape as yarn, Ch 24, Sl St to join in first st of chain to form ring.

Rnd 1
Ch 2, Hdc around entire ring chain (insert hook under ring & draw up loop around complete chain), join with Sl St at top of ch 2. (Approx. 37 Hdc’s)

Rnd 2
Ch 2, *work 1 Hdc together over next 2 sts (dec. made)*, repeat between * and join with Sl St at top of ch 2 at end of rnd.
Tip: Check fit on doll. This beginning bodice piece should slip over the breast area. Adjust sts as needed for fit. You will now be working bodice down towards waist.

Rnd 3
Ch 2, Hdc in same st and in ea st in rnd. Join with Sl St at top of ch 2.

Rnd 4 – 8
Repeat rnd 3.

Rnd 9
Ch 2, Hdc in ea st around to side of dress, work 2 Hdc at side. Then Hdc in ea st around to opposite side, work 2 Hdc at this side of dress, finish rnd by working Hdc in ea remaining st of rnd. Join with Sl St at top of ch 2.

Rnd 10 – 18
Ch 2, Hdc in ea st of rnd, join with Sl St at top of ch 2. Adjust your sts to create the lower skirt area of dress. Tighter or looser depending on your desired look of dress.

Fasten off and weave ends under on inside.

Tie Strap:
Create a tie for halter by using either ribbon yarn or combine one strand of cassette tape and ribbon yarn. Sc chain to desired length and FO. Trim the ends off and weave through the front of dress. Tie behind the neck.

Hat
Ch 5, Sl St to join in first st of chain to form ring.

Rnd 1
Ch 1, work 8 Sc in ring. Don’t join but mark beginning of rnd. Continue to work in rnds without joining st.

Rnd 2
Work 2 Sc in ea sts in rnd.

Here are three free Fashion Doll patterns for a handbag purse, tote, and shoulder bag. These are crafted by crocheting with recycled cassette tape as yarn. Just rewind an old cassette tape and cut the tape at the beginning of the brown tape. Pull out the brown tape end to work your project. The tape will pull out freely from the reel. There is no need to open up the case.

Barbie Doll Recycled Handbag Tote

Material: Cassette Tape
Hook: “E” crochet hook used in this Fashion Doll purse pattern

Using cassette tape as yarn, chain 8. Turn and Sc in 2nd stitch from hook.
Sc down one side of the chain. Continue around corner and Sc down the other side of chain.
Work in rounds. Sc in each stitch around for 6 rounds. Leave tape yarn attached.
Chain 16 for strap. Attach end of chain with Sl St to other side of purse to complete strap.
Finish off and weave in ends on the inside of purse.

Barbie Doll Recycled Handbag Purse

Material: Cassette Tape
Hook: “E” crochet hook used in this Fashion Doll purse pattern

Using cassette tape as yarn, chain 6. Turn and Sc in 2nd stitch from hook.
Sc down one side of the chain. Continue around corner and Sc down the other side of chain.
Work in rounds. Sc in each stitch around for 7 rounds.
Sc in next 3 stitches, chain 2 for handle opening, then Sk next 2 stitches, Sc in next 6 stitches, chain 2 for handle opening.
Sk next 2 stitches, then Sc in each stitch until you reach the handle opening again. Crochet 4 Sc around the chain for the handle.
Then continue Sc in each stitch around to the other side’s handle opening. Crochet 4 Sc around the chain for the handle.
Sc in next 5 stitches and Sl St into last stitch to even out the top edge of purse.
(Tip: To make the handle opening even on both sides and to have balanced stitches on either side of handles, you may have to make adjustments.
You may need to add one Sc or do one less Sc to make the purse balanced on both sides and the handle opening so it’s in the middle of the purse.
Once you have it even on both sides, finish off and weave in ends on the inside of purse.
