Crochet yourself this cute summer wristlet purse. Wristlet purses have gotten very popular lately and I wanted to get one crafted using recycled materials before summer was over. This purse was crocheted using recycled plastic grocery bags. It’s a quick little purse that is just right for a summer outing or as a great gift idea.

As always, here is the free recycled pattern. I hope you’re enjoying my recycled patterns and if you have a moment, please post a comment or drop me a note at my contact link above. I love to hear from other crafters. Enjoy!

***************************************************************

Free Recycled Plastic Wristlet Bag Pattern

Purse measures 6 inches wide and 5” long.
Strap length is 14 inches.

Material:	One ball of plastic bags cut into 1” strips.
One button – 1/2″ shown on bag.

Hook: Metal “N” hook

Chain 16

Rnd 1
Hdc in 2nd ch from hook in each chain.
Continue around the corner and down the back side of chain by working a Hdc in every chain stitch.

Rnd 2 – 9
Hdc in each st around and do not connect at end of rounds, just continue working Hdc in rounds.

At desired length of main body of purse, stop doing rounds at side mark of purse. (Then only Hdc across back side of purse to create flap for purse.)

Flap:
Row 10
Ch 2, turn, hdc in each st across back half of purse for flap.

Row 11 -13
Ch 2, turn. Hdc across row. Mark center st of flap.

Row 14
Ch 2, turn. Hdc across to center st. Work Hdc in center st, Ch 1, hdc in next st and in ea st of remaining row.

Row 15
Ch 2, turn. Hdc across to center space for button. Work 4 Hdc in center sp and then Hdc in ea remaining st of row.

Fasten off and weave ends under on inside of the bag.

Strap: Create strap by attaching your “plarn yarn” with a Sl St to spot where you want to start strap on side of purse next to flap. Chain 32. Attach strap in stitch next to beginning st at side of purse with a Sl St. Turn and work back up the chain by working a Sc around the chain until you get back to opposite end of strap handle. Adjust your Sc stitches around chain as needed to provide a smooth strap for your bag. The Sc’s slide a bit and this allows for you to adjust your stitches as needed. Attach your yarn with a Sl St next to the st where you started the strap. Fasten off and weave ends under on inside of the bag.
Sew button on purse under buttonhole space.
