I make many mini Christmas stockings each year for the Warmth for Warriors group. I decided I wanted to try a new crochet pattern to change things up a bit on my stocking making and came up with this new pattern. I took my cuffed baby booties pattern and tweaked it to create this mini cuffed Christmas stocking. The pattern is easy and can be crocheted in less than an hour plus it is free so enjoy the crochet pattern below.
Mini Christmas Cuffed Stocking Pattern
Crochet hook: H (5 mm) hook
Yarn: 3/4 oz Worst Weight Yarn (42-50 yards depending on yarn)
Finished size: 6 inches tall, 4.75” wide at toe, & 2.75” wide at top.
Rnd 1
Ch 2, work 9 Sc in 2nd ch from hook. (You can also start with a magic circle and work 9 Sc’s in circle.) Don’t join as the toe section is worked in rounds without joining. Place a stitch marker at the beginning of each round. (9 sts)
I have been crocheting baby hats for our local hospital nursery. Here is a simple crochet baby hat pattern with a rolled brim. The rolled brim idea came up as I had crocheted some hats that were too big and we just turned up the brims to make them smaller and fit the baby’s better.
Here is a photo of the hat not rolled. As the child grows you can just unroll the brim to make a longer hat so it can be worn longer by the child using this feature.
Rolled Brim Baby Hat Pattern
Baby ribbed hat measures:
Newborn = 12 inch cir by 5 inches long (4.5” with brim rolled)
Preemie = 11 inch cir by 4-1/2 inches long (4” with brim rolled)
Hooks:
H (5 mm) US sized crochet hook
G (4 mm) US sized crochet hook preemie babies
Materials: 1+ ounce Worsted Medium Weight or Aran Yarn
Small amount of contrasting yarn if desired for brim
With main yarn color, Ch 3 and join to form ring. Hat pattern is worked in the round without turning.
Here is my Seahawks inspired Red Heart heartwarming crochet scarf. I used Red Heart comfort yarn in melon green for the main body of the scarf and trimmed it using Red Heart navy. I followed the heartwarming crochet scarf pattern but did do a few extra rows so the scarf was a bit longer. My finished length is 60 inches long and the scarf is 5 inches wide.
Overall a simple and easy pattern to crochet by Red Heart. The only thing I wasn’t sure about was the placement of the edge trim but I think it turned out fine with the contrasting yarn. Here is a closeup of the stitching I did with the contrasting blue yarn.
Mandala crocheted dishcloths are just so pretty. I love how you can use different scraps of yarn to create beautiful designs. I have such a big bag of cotton scraps that I thought this would be the perfect idea to use some of it up. So… I found this easy Mandala pattern and tweaked it just a bit to crochet some dishcloths.
Pattern note: In the pattern when it says to work 2DCtog in the next stitch, it means
Everyone at Ravelry has been celebrating the Olympics and the Mother Bear Group has been busy making Olympic Mother Bears. I crocheted 3 Olympic bears during the games. It was fun to make the bears for charity and also participate in the 2016 Ravellenics Games at Ravelry.
Here are the 3 different teddy bears I completed in the Toy Toss event. The first bear is Katie bear I crocheted in honor of Katie Ledecky. Katie bear is posing with her first gold medal she won in swimming for the USA.
Next is Aly bear in honor of Aly Raisman of the 2016 USA gymnastics team.
I crocheted this latest recycled plastic bag or plarn tote using lots of white plastic bags and a few red and grey plastic bags. Recycling all the white retail plastic bags I get can be challenging. Let’s face it, the white bags are boring and need something to help brighten up the project when you crochet or knit with them. So by adding some colorful bags, I created a few stripes to spice up this recycled tote bag.
I used the free recycled round grocery tote pattern to crochet this bag. I just changed up the stripes of colored plarn a bit for a different look than the original pattern. But otherwise it’s the same pattern. As with any pattern, you can always just make a few changes which will result in a new look.
Below is another picture taken with the tote bag laying down flat.
It was super hero theme in July for the Mother Bear Project at Ravelry. I decided that I wanted to crochet a Superman teddy bear for the project.
Here is Superman or maybe I should say Superbear.
I crocheted my bear in the round and seamless using this crochet bear tutorial. I used a piece of gold felt to draw the S logo for my Superman costume with markers and then just glued it onto the bear. I crocheted the red cape by attaching red yarn to the side of the neck and single crocheting around to the other side of the neck. I then crocheted in double crochet stitching until I had the desired length for the Superman cape.
These theme teddy bears are just so much fun to make. You can see all the different bears that were crocheted and knitted for the children at our Ravelry
It was Christmas in July for me this month. I have been working on crocheted mini Christmas stockings for the Warmth for Warriors 2016 Stocking Drive. July marked my start of crocheting the little socks for the organization that collects the stockings and fills them with small gifts such as chapstick, shampoo, lotions, or other small toiletry and gives them to our troops at Christmas.
It is always fun to crochet these cute little stockings for the troops. It is a wonderful way to use up scraps of yarn as you only need little bits of yarn to do the toes and heels and add contrast to the stockings.
Here are more of the 6 inch stockings that I crocheted this month. As you can see
I crocheted this plastic basket from recycled plastic retail bags. The bags are cut 1 inch wide and connected using the loop method to create plarn or plastic bag yarn. Here is the free plarn basket pattern I used to crochet the basket.
The basket is filled with kitchen items for an upcoming Relay for Life fundraiser. Included in the basket are potholders, an oven mitt, dishcloths and pot scrubber.
The jute and green granny square kitchen items were shared in a recent blog here
