More Crocheted Hats

Posted on September 12, 2020

I have been busy crocheting more hats. In my last post I wrote about a new all front post brimmed hat I tried. I really liked how it came out and crocheted this one for my grandson.

The hat was worked seamless after row 2 which makes it nice looking without the normal joining showing on the hat. Photo below shows how it looks without joining except for FPDC rows.

For this child’s hat, I made the following modifications on the hat orginial pattern:
Worked 17 rounds to 6” inch long before adding 5 rows of FPDC for brim. For FPDC, I ch-2 and FPDC around each HDC and only join for the brim now. Crown diameter was 6” at round 17 on about 78 sts around to obtain the 18” cir for finished size for a 5 year old. Finished length is 7.25” and 18” cir.

Next I crocheted a scrappy striped wool hat using this basic helmet hat pattern. This hat will be donated to Warmth for Warriors (W4W) for this year’s hat drive.

Well that’s all I have to share this week. Happy crocheting everyone!
