Plarn Picket Stitch Tote Bag

Posted on July 18, 2026

Just finished up this all white crocheted plarn tote bag using up a big bunch of plastic bags from Super 1. I believe I used up over 60 plastic retail grocery sacks that I have been saving.

This recycled tote bag uses my Picket Stitch tote pattern that is available free. The tote bag makes a wonderful beach bag which is just in time for the hot weather we are having. Finished size is 13 inches wide by 13 inches long with 9 inch handles.

Below is a closeup of the handles and picket stitching across.

So if you have a bunch of plastic bags just sitting around, why not cut them into plarn to create plastic yarn that you can crochet your own recycled tote bag.
