Reusable Water Bottle and Holder

September 6, 2014 7 comments

Here is a new twist on a recycled plastic water bottle holder. I crocheted this water bottle holder using recycled plastic newspaper bags. I cut the plastic bags into 1 inch wide strips using this plarn making tutorial. Here is the free crochet pattern for the plastic bag water bottle holder. But the twist on this water bottle combo is the water container. I inserted a glass Mason jar into the plarn holder to hold the water.

This idea can be used for several different sizes of reusable and recycled glass jars as the plarn holder stretches and fits many sizes of jars and recycled glass bottles. The good thing about using glass is that you don’t need to worry about the plastic breaking down and you actually beginning to ingest the plastic if you reuse the bottle. Here is a recycled pint size jar in the same plastic bag holder as above.

Recycled Water Bottle Carrier

I am sharing a reader’s designs and crochet pattern for a plastic water bottle carrier. These water bottle carriers are made from recycled plastic bags and have been fashioned into some amazing designs by Cecile Chi.

Cecile has allowed me to reprint her pattern and photos in this post. Her designs are beautiful and shows how plastic trash can truly be transformed into treasures. While she doesn’t give all the details for creating the special designs shown in the photos, her beautiful creations do provide us with numerous ideas for crocheting our own unique designs with recycled plastic bags.

Crochet a Water Bottle Holder

August 13, 2008 14 comments

Just in time before Summer is over, crochet this handy water bottle holder from recycled plastic bags or plarn. It has a convenient sling shoulder strap and holds a reusable Nalgene 32 oz/1000 ml or one liter water bottle. This makes a wonderful water bottle holder because the bag is crocheted using plastic bags, you don’t have to worry about it getting wet from the condensation from a cold bottle.

Here is the free pattern link to crochet the water bottle holder.

Enjoy the rest of your Summer and happy green crafting to all!
