Kitchen Towel Topper with Ring

Posted on May 13, 2026

I have a magnetic hook on the side of my refrigerator that I like to hang a towel on. Having a ring on the towel makes it very handy. So I added a towel topper to a Dollar Store kitchen towel with a built in ring.

Ring on Towel Topper

This is a modified version of my triangle towel topper pattern. For this towel topper, I folded the kitchen towel in half and crocheted single crochet (SC) stitches along the top as I have done on many of my other double layered towel toppers. But for this towel topper, I add a recycled milk jug ring for the hanger.

So here are the pattern mods:

Row 1, SC across top of both layers of the towel using steel hook. Now switch to a G (4 mm) crochet hook.
Row 2, Chain 1, turn and SC in each stitch.
Row 3, Chain 1, turn and work SC decreases (decs) all across in back loops only (BLO).
Row 4, Chain 1, turn and BLO SC in every stitch next row in each BLO stitch.
Repeat row 3 and 4 twice more.

Work flap on 6 stitches even in BLO SC for 2 rows. Then one final row in both loops to finish. Fold flap over plastic ring and use a yarn needle to stitch ring in place.

See the photos from the triangle towel topper pattern that shows how the ring is secured in place.

Trim edging:
Attach yarn, at right side (RS) front corner, SC in each stitch along edge and around ring and back down to other corner. Finish off.

Here is a closeup photo below of the ring towel topper.

I just love my double layered towel topper with a built in ring. It is handy for hanging up my kitchen towel and so easy to make!
